Challenge Family's commitment to the continued development of the triathlon industry was acknowledged at the TBI [Triathlon Business International] Awards at Interbike last night where the global triathlon organisation was awarded Triathlon Industry Leader of the Year.

Jack Caress President of TBI said of the award, "Challenge Family is a leader in the sport of triathlon on a global scale. They have extended and enhanced their events' family atmosphere beyond their roots in Roth, and have broadened the audiences for our sport. Challenge has embraced innovation, professionalism and developed an atmosphere and presence that is unique to the sport of triathlon. They are a deserved winner of the TBI Industry Leader Award."

Challenge Family grew from the world's largest long distance triathlon, the legendary Challenge Roth, owned by the Walchshöfer family, ten years ago and now features 47 events in 23 countries. As a family-owned and run business, each and every event reflects the magic, inclusivity and strong athlete focus that Challenge Roth is renowned for while engaging the local community. Athletes are encouraged to cross the line with their family members; relay teams allow an even more people to experience the unique atmosphere of long distance racing. Challenge Family events are about more than triathlon, they are a celebration of life and sport for all ages and abilities, often featuring festivals including fun runs, children's events, live music and other social events. Instead of flying in their own staff, Challenge races pull heavily from local clubs and municipal groups for volunteers and staff with core teams living and working in the communities that host Challenge Family events.

Zibi Szlufcik, Challenge Family CEO, said the award was a great honour for Challenge Family and reflected the outstanding work of its partners around the world.

"This is an amazing award which belongs to all the Challenge Family races and reflects the significant team efforts that go into producing Challenge events worldwide," he said. "We are proud and humbled to receive this award, reflecting as it does the views of triathlon media and industry partners. Challenge Family will continue on as a quality and innovation leader driving the development of the sport of triathlon and we're very much looking forward to the next 10 years!"
