Thorndon Pool opens this Saturday 20 October and will have its longest summer season yet, with extended daily opening hours.
The 30-metre heated pool in Murphy Street pool will open earlier in the morning than in previous years and stay open longer, giving people more options for fitness and recreation. Longer hours at Thorndon Pool will also provide another alternative for those who usually swim at Tawa Pool, which is closed for maintenance until April.
Thorndon Pool has space for lane swimming and aqua jogging - perfect for that lunchtime break from the office. There's plenty of room to sit - sun or shade - or relax in the spa pool.
The pool can also be hired out after-hours for kids' birthday parties and work or family functions.
Thorndon is one of two outdoor swimming pools managed by Wellington City Council, the other being Khandallah Pool which opens in late November.
New Thorndon Pool hours:
- Monday to Thursday 6.00am - 8.00pm
- Friday to Sunday 6.00am - 7.00pm
