With 47 full and half distance races in 23 countries, Challenge Family is almost everywhere these days, and now Norway is the next step in the expansion of this fast growing triathlon series.
The Norwegian region Tønsberg – also known as the “vibrant pearl along the coast line” will act as the scenery of this half distance race. On August 27th 2016, the first finishers ever in a Norwegian Challenge Family race will cross the finish line in the beautiful and idyllic Rosanes Park.
The team behind Challenge Tønsberg is a triathlon-experienced pack counting the organizers of Challenge Denmark BYTRI Tønsberg, Hove Tri and TriQuart. CEO at Challenge Denmark, Claus Vesterby, is looking forward to contributing with his experience from the races in Denmark, when building up Challenge Tønsberg next summer.
“The combination of our team from Challenge Denmark and the Norwegian team seems like the perfect match. We know what it takes to arrange a Challenge Family race and the Norwegian team knows what it takes to build up a race in Norway,” Claus Vesterby explains.
CEO at Challenge Family, Zibi Szlufcik, also believes that the combination of international experience and local knowledge is what is needed to make Challenge Tønsberg a success.
“After our success in Denmark, we are delighted to add, together with our team from Denmark and local Team from Tønsberg, a new race in Scandinavia, taking the Challenge Family experience to Norway and the historic town of Tønsberg in the greater Oslo area. Challenge Family is all about the athlete, about having iconic races in great destinations and Tønsberg is perfect with its breathtaking scenery, fiords and strong viking heritage. We very much look forward to working with the Tønsberg community to deliver Norway’s premier half distance race on 27 August 2016,” he said.
Race director at Challenge Tønsberg, Frank Pedersen, knows the region and the Norwegian triathlon world better than most others. “It’s long been our wish to expand triathlon in the Tønsberg region, and with the announcement of Challenge Tønsberg our dream has finally become a reality. At BYTRI Tønsberg we’ve been pioneers when it comes to organizing triathlons in the middle of a city, and we can’t wait to show athletes from all over the world how great it is to race here.”
The team behind Challenge Tønsberg believes that the combination of the stunning Norwegian nature and the historic town of Tønsberg is exactly what will make athletes travel from across the world to participate in this inaugural Norwegian Challenge Family race.
