The global triathlon series Challenge Family has launched Challenge Maceió, the second event in South America. The beautiful course at Pajuçara Beach will host athletes from all over the world in 23 August 2015 over the half distance.
In a flat, fast and intense course, Challenge Maceió is considered another record breaker race of the world. At the end of the Brazilian winter season, a calm and clear water is expected, the flat fast lane of the highway for a fast bike course and a half marathon by the beach.
Surrounded by beautiful beaches, Maceió is the capital of the state of Alagoas and the main city of the region and is one of the main destinations for the family holidays in Brazil.
With options for the entire family, nature has been generous with this piece of land in Brazil: at north, idyllic beaches, considered by Travel & Leisure Magazine as the most beautiful secret beaches in the world. To the south, stunning views, as the beach of Gunga and the canyons of the São Franscico River, where you can also visit the river delta.
From the athlete's point of view, the race sites offer everything you would expect: swimming in a sheltered bay by reefs, with warm, green and transparent water. Coming out of water, a highway running along the beach, crossing farms of coconut trees and beautiful rivers on the cycling course. On the run course, the athlete will enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of the city, crossing the beaches Pajuçara, Ponta Verde and Jatiúca , partly under the shade of a coconut grove and will get support from the crowd in front of main hotels of the city.
According to the Secretary of Sports of Maceió, Antonio Moura, "The Challenge Family is very welcome to Maceió, because we believe we possess the ideal conditions to deliver the race and the event will be a watershed for our city, definitely putting Maceió in the roadmap of the biggest international sports competitions".
Challenge Maceió is now, together with Challenge Florianópolis, part of the global series of triathlon races known as Challenge Family, which recently announced the Challenge Americas Championships in Knoxville, USA in May 2016. Both Maceio and Florianopolis will be qualififers for the championships.
The Challenge Family races series also includes the greatest long distance race in the globe, Challenge Roth, that includes more 5.500 athletes and 220.000 spectators. The race in Germany holds the records for the distance (3.8km of swim, 180km of cycling and 42km of running), with Chrissie Wellington (UK) and Andreas Raelert (GER), in 2011.
Registrations for the inaugural edition of the Challenge Maceió starts at 11/29/2014 through the website www.blueticket.com.br.
