Challenge Family and the European Triathlon Union (ETU) today announced the 2015 ETU European Middle Distance Triathlon Championships will take place at Challenge Rimini, Italy on Sunday 24 May.
Rimini is renowned as the Italian capital of multisport events, as well as for its rich cultural history and stunning landscapes on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. These landscapes are host to the spectacular Challenge Rimini 113km course with its warm ocean swim, tough but beautiful bike course and flat beachfront run.
The President of the ETU, Renato Bertrandi, said: "I am pleased with the decision to have our European Championships Half Distance in Rimini next year.
"The location is beautiful and the organising standards of the LOC excellent: all these are the perfect criteria for a succesful race."
Challenge Family CEO, Zibi Szlufcik, said the team at Challenge Rimini would deliver an outstanding event and the announcement marked the continuance of Challenge Family's long-standing relationship with ETU.
"Alessandro Alessandri and his team have a long-lasting relationship with the Italian Triathlon Federation and have already hosted a number of exceptionally well delivered international championships. This, combined with the fact the beauty of the city of Rimini is simply amazing, makes Rimini a logical choice for the 2015 championships," he said.
"Challenge Family has always had a long respect for the legacy of the sport of triathlon, as well as lasting partnerships with national federations and the sport's governing body, respecting the rules and regulations of the ETU," continued Szlufcik. "This meaningful, fruitful and open partnership of the last three years (2012-2014) is now leading on to the next stage in 2015 and beyond as we share the same common objective of growing triathlon and providing athletes of all ages and abilities the opportunity take part."
