Breca Bay of Islands
The Bay of Islands is iconic: famous for its white-sand beaches, pristine islands, lagoons and turquoise waters. It's an area rich in wildlife, known for its beauty and history.
The 33km course follows the classic island-hopping swimrun format. Starting at the Waitangi Treaty Ground, the course links mainland trails with six of the Bay's stunning islands, before the grand finish and party at the Otehei Bay island resort.
Comprising 25km of running and 8.4km of swimming, with 10 run stages and 9 swim stages, it has the highest ratio of swimming to running of any of our global series of events.
But don't think this is purely a swimmers course. While the run stages are comparatively short, they take place on challenging trails and bush paths. They are technical and capture significant elevation - expect the race to take 5 - 9 hours to complete.
